4A CBBN

  • Eastmont 21, Wenatchee 17
  • West Valley 28, Eisenhower 14
  • Moses Lake 68, Sunnyside 7
  • Davis @ Ingraham (Playing Saturday, 10/17)

In the biggest Battle of the Bridges game in at least a decade, the Eastmont Wildcats pulled out a 21-17 victory in a physical defensive slugfest against their arch-rival, the Wenatchee Panthers. Most expected a higher-scoring shootout, but both defenses delivered. Wenatchee quarterback Rigo Garcia was under pressure all night, forced to get rid of the football quickly against a relentless pass rush led by senior Donivon Torres. The game featured multiple heroics, including an incredible touchdown play by Eastmont’s Austin Zelinski on a swing pass from his brother, quarterback Peyton Zelinski. For the Panthers, tight end Liam Stuber made multiple big plays to help Wenatchee keep pace. Ultimately, Eastmont secured the win, extending their winning streak against their rivals to 11 games.

Elsewhere in the league, West Valley continues to prove they are a vastly improved team from the start of the season, taking down Yakima rival Eisenhower 28-14. After starting the year 0-3, the Rams have won three of their last four, with their only recent loss being a one-score game against undefeated Eastmont. Meanwhile, Moses Lake remains on cruise control, easily defeating Sunnyside 68-7. The Mavericks improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in league play, having not faced serious competition since the first half of the Wenatchee game several weeks ago. All eyes now turn to this coming Friday as undefeated Eastmont heads to Moses Lake for a massive matchup that will essentially serve as the league championship.

  • Cascade 21, Omak 14
  • Chelan 52, Quincy 27

The Cascade Kodiaks secured a massive league win over the Omak Pioneers, improving their record to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. Because the Caribou Trail League is only a three-team conference, a victory over Chelan this coming Friday would crown the Kodiaks as league champions. The Chelan Goats are coming off a strong non-league performance of their own, beating the 2A Quincy Jackrabbits to improve to 3-4 on the season. This sets the stage for a massive conference showdown next week between Cascade and Chelan.
